EXCLUSIVE SKETCHES FROM THE VERSACE ATELIER

I have always loved fashion illustrations, so working with them as part of my job is particularly special. The below are examples from the Versace Atelier. The sketches are always extremely confidential before a look is worn, but once a gown hits the red carpet, they can be released (and used as art in your apartment)! Here is a peek at recently worn sketches:

ROCK STEADY

On her twenty-third birthday, she was partying as usual when
the last call came at the bar and she wanted another bottle of champagne....
Naturally, he obliged... she said hello and then went dancing back...
That was the first time they met.
He saw her on the dance floor,
dancing absolutely exquisitely with her wild hair,
and I saw this expression on his face.
It was just a very beautiful glimmer in his eye.
I know him so well, and for some reason
I got this bee in my bonnet at that moment and thought,
That's the woman.

- adapted from Jonathan van Meter's story in Vogue
on how Patti Hansen met Rolling Stone Keith Richards, her husband of 27 years

IN FOR THE KILL

We can fight our desires
But when we start making fires
We get ever so hot
Whether we like it or not
They say we can love who we trust
But what is love without lust?
Two hearts with accurate devotions
And what are feelings without emotions?

I hang my hopes out on the line
Will they be ready for you in time
If you leave them out too long
They'll be withered by the sun
Full stops and exclamation marks
My words stumble before I start
How far can you send emotions?
Can this bridge cross the ocean?

Let's go to war
To make peace
Let's be cold
To create heat
I hope in darkness
We can see
And you're not blinded by the light from me

I'm going in for the kill
I'm doing it for a thrill
Oh I'm hoping you'll understand
And not let go of my hand

DESPERATE HOUSEWIFE

The Fifties were all over the runways for Couture and Resort, and a kitschy love of old-fashioned domesticity has been cropping up everywhere. Even Frida Gianni claimed in this month's issue of W that if she weren't the Creative Director of Gucci, she would want to be a housewife. The trend is perfectly captured in Beyonce's new music video for "Why Don't You Love Me?"

Other fabulous housewives:

[Victoria Beckham for US Glamour]

[Madonna for Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2010 campaign]

I love it!
